We all know that there are certain places around the world that we don’t even know about, some of them we don’t even imagine they exist until we meet someone from that specific country. The more we travel the more we realize how little we know about our own planet. I use this fact as motivation to keep traveling and to keep meeting new people while at it, everyone has something new to teach you, especially if they come from a country you never heard of before.
I would like to give you information about a small country in the Caribbean, this information will broaden your knowledge about the world and it will surely add a new destination to your bucket list. I just want you to know that there are many islands in the Caribbean and my story goes about Aruba, one happy island! An island located near Venezuela not far from Punto Fijo, its location may confuse some people into thinking that it is part of Venezuela, but it's not, Aruba is a country.
If you google ‘Aruba’ the first thing that will catch your eye is it’s beautiful white sand beaches with crystal blue water, the perfect place to go on a relaxing holidays, especially during winter time. A place where you can go and escape from the cold winters and enjoy a Piña Colada under the Caribbean sun.
Aruba is a small island full of fun things to do; like water sports, great parties, off road trips and much more. It's a place full of friendly people and rich in culture. I will emphasize on the beautiful natural sceneries it provides for those adventurers who would like to visit and discover a variety of fauna and flore in its tropical settings. The unique beauty of its colorful buildings that gives the island a happy atmosphere, making it worthy of its motto: ‘Aruba ONE HAPPY ISLAND’.
To tell you a bit about the history of this small island I will begin by mentioning that it was colony of many european countries such as Spain, England and The Netherlands. At the moment Aruba is a country that belongs to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This is the main reason why the second language is Dutch, therefore most of its inhabitants can speak the language fluently. Arubans are also people that are multi lingual, so language barrier won’t be a problem in this beautiful island. The main language spoken is Papiamento, which can be described as a language that has words from Portuguese, West African languages, Dutch, and Spanish.
Aruba is a place that won’t disappoint you if you are looking for an exotic experience; you will eat delicious food, mainly prepared with lots of seafood and fish, the beauty of the multi-cultural atmosphere thanks to the variety of its inhabitants and the stunning natural sceneries that you can find around the island. When you decide to visit Aruba make sure to pack your swimsuits and sunblock! Also don’t forget to bring a smile on your face and the will to enjoy this HAPPY ISLAND!
